Kitwe mayor reported to ACC over alleged graft
FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has reported a sports WhatsApp group administrator to police for adding him to the group without his consent.
And Police have warned and cautioned social media site WhatsApp Soccer Chat group administrator Makungu Saluti for adding Kamanga to the group without his permission.
Saluti was accompanied by Anthony Mukanda, a lawyer from HH Ndhlovu and Company to the Zambia Police Lusaka Division Headquarters yesterday after he was summoned for questioning at the behest of the FAZ president.
Mukanda said the matter was resolved amicably after police only warned and cautioned Saluti.
“We are here with our client Makungu Saluti because he was issued with a call out at the behest of Kamanga (Andrew). We are meant to believe, ideally Kamanga launched a complaint that he was added to a sports WhatsApp group without his consent and they issued a call out,” Mukanda said .
But it turned out that when we appeared at the police they raised many concerns against the group including those against people within the group that use unpalatable language against Kamanga but at the end of it, it has been handled professionally by the police.
Mukanda noted that the matter had been resolved amicably and that police handled the matter in a professional manner.
Saluti was warned and cautioned by the police. Kamanga has faced severe criticism in the soccer chat group for his handling of football matters in the run up to FAZ elections.
KITWE Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe has been reported to the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) for alleged corrupt practices, among them, abuse of authority and obtaining percuniary advantage
A Kitwe resident Thabo Kawana reported Kang’ombe to the ACC in Kitwe for
changing the status of Kitwe United Football Club as a private company limited by shareholding without a council resolution, no minutes and no permission from the Ministry of Local Government
After changing the status of the club, Kang’ombe is alleged to have made himself one of the shareholders and directors of the club.
Other directors and shareholders of the club were Gabriel Akayombokwa, who is Director of Engineering at the Kitwe City Council (KCC), Emmanuel Numwa and Innocent Mumbi Kayafa
“So the Kitwe United is registered as a private company by shareholding and the Kitwe Mayor is among the shareholders and directors of the said company. There was no council resolution thereof authorising Kitwe United as a limited company.
