IBA should reopen Radio Lutanda

Tuesday from which 174 coronavirus cases were recorded.

Tanzania is a hot spot country for Covid-19 going by the high incidences of the pandemic being recorded on a daily basis.

The foreign truck drivers transiting through Zambia at the border towns spread Covid-19 pandemic. The case in point is the high number of truck drivers who recently tested positive for the pandemic.

I feel quarantining the truck drivers mostly from foreign countries for 14 days is good but not good enough. The best thing to do is to test the truck drivers as they enter and leave Zambia.

The main focus should not only be on Nakonde but at other border towns as well. In this way, our country will ultimately reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

Escorting the truck drivers by the Road Transport and Safety Agency officers as they enter Zambia to ensure that they go straight for compulsory quarantine is costly.

I recommend mandatory testing of the truck drivers passing through Zambia. It has been observed that truck drivers are at high risk of contracting the coronavirus as they travel from countries such as Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo for instance.

Covid-19 is real and it has claimed many lives in the world so far. It is for this reason that there is need for concerted efforts to fight this pandemic. Together we can conquer the Covid-19.

The challenge is that we always want to prove how deadly Covid-19 is by first losing a loved one before we can comply with guidelines.

This has now led people to develop a fear of reporting any Covid-19 symptoms to medical experts resulting in patients sent off to medical facilities in their last stages with multiple health challenges resulting in some cases in death.

People are not therefore willing to come out until they are actually tested. Truck drivers are some of the best transmitters spreading all the way from Nakonde through Mbala, Kasama, Luwingu, Chipili, Mansa and eventually the Copperbelt.

They care very little about the harm they are doing. Viva Zambia, Viva Government together we shall conquer Covid-19.

?? ?? The truckers have been cited as the major drivers of Covid-19 as they enter and leave Zambia. Just last Tuesday, 66 truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19.
