Resume flights to South - Hamukale
THE Provincial Administration in Southern Province has appealed to the aviation industry to consider resuming their domestic routes to Livingstone following the reopening of the Victoria Fallas
Southern Province Minister, Edify Hamukale, said domestic airline operators must consider resuming the Lusaka- Livingstone route.
Dr Hamukale said that this would help promote domestic tourism and encourage more Zambians to visit the country’s tourist capital.
He was speaking yesterday when he visited the Victoria Falls to give solidarity to the public that the natural wonder was open, safe and free of Covid-19 after President Edgar Lungu officially opened it last week.
“As a province, we stand by the decision by President Edgar Lungu to reopen the Victoria Falls to the public.
“I am here to assure the general public that it is safe to come to Livingstone, Southern Province for tourism activities.
Our hotels are safe and all services we offer are back to normal...so please come and enjoy yourself,” Dr Hamukale said.
Notwithstanding the fact that Covid-19 was real, the Minister said Government would not relax enforcement of preventive measures.
And Livingstone Tourism Association Board chairman, Rodney Sikumba, expressed happiness with the response from the community.
Meanwhile, since opening to the public following a two months closure, about 1,300 customers have accessed the Victoria Falls as at Sunday, May 17, 2020.
