Let HH answer privatisation questions - Tutwa
…hundreds lose savings in botched investment schemes.
HAKAINDE Hichilema has no moral right to speak on behalf of Zambians because he has failed to answer questions on privatisation, says Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube.
Mr Ngulube was reacting to the United Party for National Development (UPND) president who was quoted in one of the daily tabloids as saying that Zambians were not idiots and that President Edgar Lungu was underestimating their intellligence by saying he has reduced his salary to cushion the economic hardships.
Mr Tutwa said it was total madness for the opposition leader to act as if he stands with the Zambian people because they were aware of his involvement in the privatisation process.
“Hakainde Hichilema must keep his social distance and he has no moral obligation to speak on behalf of the people of Zambia because he has failed to answer questions on privatisation,” Mr Ngulube said.
“He has failed to win the presidency because Zambians are aware of his involvement in the privatisation of state-owned companies that plunged most Zambians into poverty,” Mr Ngulube said.
Meanwhile, Patriotic Front Eastern Province chairperson Andrew Lubusha said it was clear that the UPND president must be going through some difficulties in appreciating the truth.
Mr Lubusha said Mr Hichilema has shown that he was up to no good by criticising every positive move made by the President.
“I think HH must be going through some problems with himself. How else can he be criticising even something which is positive?” Mr Lubusha said.
The reduction of salaries for the President and other senior government officials is a good gesture, Mr Lubusha said.
“He is not being fair with himself. This is a good gesture done and we give kudos to the President for showing that he stands with the people. This can only be done by a selfless leader who means well for the nation,” Mr Lubusha said.
