GOVT TO CATER FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
F OREIGN students studying in Zambian universities will be provided with access to e-learning platforms, says Higher Education permanent secretary Siame Kayula.
Ms Kayula said in an interview that e-learning had been part of the learning process because of the unforeseen challenges caused the covid-19.
She said it would now become compulsory to ensure continuity of learning through e-learning.
“Not all students returned to their respective countries but still in Zambia, however for those who left and are currently in their home countries, provisions of the learning platform will equally be prepared for them to participate and learn.Ms Kayula said despite some e - learning challenges experienced, lecturers must be innovative by identifying different e - learning platforms and in addition provide materials that students could collect for their learning.
The PS has also reiterated that the consultation process on the reopening of the higher institutions to ensure safety of the students was still on alive.
The ministry was engaging with stakeholders and the consultations were still on, to develop a road map for reopening, as the learning institutions continued teaching and learning through E-learning. “The TEVET and higher institutions of learning are already getting ready, and the reopening will undertake a phase approach beginning with examinations and graduation classes,” she said.
