Mansa PF slams ACC witch-hunt against Chilufya
THE Patriotic Front in Muchinka Ward of Mansa Central Constituency in Luapula Province has charged that the on-going investigations against their Member of Parliament Dr. Chitalu Chilufya who is also Health Minister are aimed at weakening the Presidency.
Muchinka ward chairperson Eriko Mpundu stated that they were aware that investigations against Dr Chilufya were instigated by people who were not happy with the cordial working relationship their MP has with the Presidency.
Mr. Mpundu who was flanked by his vice chairperson and secretary said that he is aware that some people within the PF had ganged up with enemies of the party to plot Dr Chilufya’s downfall as they were not happy of his good performance.
“Who doesn’t know of the good works that Dr Chilufya has been doing? We are aware that some people within our party are unsettled that Dr Chilufya has not only been hard working but has been loyal to the President hence they have teamed up to bring him down, ” he said.
Mr. Mpundu observes that Dr. Chilufya has shown that he is a very hardworking minister who has the interest of the people at heart but it seems others are not happy with this.
“You can all see for example the way he has been handling the issue of the Covid-19 in the country, he is always in the forefront in ensuring that the fight against the global pandemic in this country is won and this just goes to show how committed he is when it comes to work.” said Mr Mpundu.
He explained that whatever is happening to Dr. Chilufya is something which was planned by his enemies who feel threatened by his presence and want to displace him at all costs.
Mr. Mpundu noted that if they genuinely wanted to investigate the Health Minister they could have at least waited until the fight against the Covid- 19 was over as these allegations are distracting him from helping the country fight this pandemic.
“Whatever Dr. Chilufya is going through right now is as a result of his hard work and nothing else that is why certain people have resolved to frustrate him at all costs,” he said.
Mr. Mpundu disclosed that some of the people who are fighting Dr. Chilufya are those from Luapula Province.
According to ACC Corporate Affairs Officer Jonathan Siame , the organisation has been conducting investigations against Dr Chilufya on alleged possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Mr Siame said in a recent statement that the ACC has since conducted interviews with Dr. Chilufya and a warn and caution statement has been recorded. Investigations in this matter are still on- going. – ZANIS.
