Arrest agitators - Tutwa

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

THE police must immediately arrest some individuals inciting people to rise against government, Government Deputy Chief Whip Tutwa Ngulube has said.

Mr Ngulube, who is also Kabwe Central Constituency Member of Parliament, said such acts can cause havoc in the country, therefore, people involved must face the law.

The lawmaker said influencing people to rise against the government was treason therefore perpetrators of such acts must not be left scot free.

Mr Ngulube was reacting to University of Zambia lecturer Sishuwa Sishuwa who was quoted in a local tabloid saying that the country was ripe for a revolution due to many alleged inequalities perpetuated by government.

“So I am appealing to the law enforcement officers to ensure that those who are inciting Zambians to engage in illicit activities be arrested because the country would be set on fire because of unscrupulous individuals,” he said.

The lawmaker said the police must not hesitate to bring to book such people who want to cause anarchy in the country.

Lawlessness, Mr Ngulube said, must not be tolerated because many lives would be affected if the country was set on fire through illicit activities.

“I want to tell such people like the agitators that we shall hold them accountable for the indiscipline that they are trying to perpetrate because these are the same people we suspect to be behind gassing and now when they saw that gassing did not work out for them they are now inciting people to raise against government.

We need to warn them that anyone who wants to incite people will be held accountable and will face the wrath of the law.

“And I am calling on the police to start investigations because it is a crime to incite people to raise against government, in fact it is treason,” Mr Ngulube said.
