TEACHERS POISED TO GET REVOLVING FUND
TEACHERS
in Nkana constituency in Kitwe are poised to benefit from a revolving fund as their Member of Parliament (MP), Alexander Chiteme, is
spearheading the initiative.
Mr Chiteme yesterday indicated that he was considering establishing s revolving fund for the teachers in the constituency to save them from exploitative money lending institutions.
He said he would look at modalities of how teachers could start benefitting from the revolving fund which was also being given to marketeers and bus drivers.
He was speaking yesterday when he met head teachers and their deputies at Mukupa Secondary School.
“I have always had passion for the education and health sectors because we need an educated and healthy population. This is why I have gone out of my way to rehabilitate and upgrade schools and clinics
“Apart from this, I have always been thinking of extending the revolving fund to teachers so that they are saved from exploitative money lending institutions,” Mr Chiteme said.
Mr Chiteme on Saturday empowered bus drivers in Kitwe with K50, 000 worth of fuel which they would be using and pay back in form of a revolving fund
Under the K50, 000 fuel fund, the drivers would be using coupons to draw the fuel and pay back with a little interest to sustain the arrangement and lighten the fuel challenge they were facing.
Mr Chiteme said he had decided to come up with the arrangement after drivers complained that they were being left out on empowerment initiatives. And Kitwe Bus Drivers Association chairman, Christopher Mwananshiku, said he was grateful that the MP had initiated the empowerment of drivers through fuel.
