VIOLENT UPND YOUTHS ROASTED
THE Anti-Political Violence Association of Zambia has taken a swipe at the United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres that attacked Patriotic Front (PF) deputy national mobilisation chairperson, Geoffrey Mwamba on Monday in Monze.
And the association has urged youths to desist from using social media to insult and disrespect leaders because such acts have the potential to plunge this country into chaos and bloodshed.
Speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, association information and publicity secretary, Davyson Zulu, said his organisation would never support any political party that engaged in political violence.
Mr Zulu said his association would not side with any cadres who perpetuated violence regardless of their political affiliation and that it would continue exposing those who engaged in such vices.
“We condemn the violence attack which took place in Monze on Monday June 22, 2020 were some United Party for National Development attacked Patriotic Front national mobilisation vice chairman Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
“As an association, we are strongly warn all the political parties to sit their youths down and stop this violence because we don’t want this to continue in this country regardless of who the perpetrators are or to which political party they belong. We appeal to the Zambia police service to arrest anyone found wanting,” Mr. Zulu said.
And Mr Zulu said social media abuse by the youths where they insulted leaders and elderly people must also come to an end.
He said such acts, if not guarded against, had the potential to plunge the country into chaos and bloodshed.
“We want to strongly appeal to all the youths in our beloved country Zambia not to use social media platforms to insult and disrespect elders who are our parents. As the youths of this country, let’s not be used as tools of violence to insult and fight each other by these politicians.
“We would like to warn all the youths regardless of their political affiliations, who will engage themselves in political violence to stop this act because we don’t want bloodshed in Zambia.
Political violence also has the potential to scare away investors. Let’s say no to political violence and save Zambia,” he said.
