I co-own Mwamona Engineering – Ms Kambwili
THE case against NDC leader Chishimba yesterday took another twist when his wife, Carol testified before the Lusaka Magistrate court through Zoom video call that she co-owns Mwamona Engineering.
Earlier, Kambwili gave unsworn evidence which meant that the prosecutors could not cross examine him.
Ms Kambwili appeared as defense witness in a matter where Kambwili is facing three counts of forgery, uttering a false document and giving false information to a public officer.
Ms Kambwili who testified from her home in the United Kingdom via Zoom online could not however finish testifying as she informed the court that she had to rush for work.
she said she co-owns Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services with her son, Mwamba, who at the time of incorporating the company, was eight years old.
“I co-own Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services with my son Mwamba,” Ms Kambwili told the Lusaka Magistrate’s court.
Ms Kambwili 48, a staff nurse in the United Kingdom, said she incorporated the company in 2001 and was one of the two directors in Mwamona.
"Mwamona is my company which I jointly own with my son Mwamba," she told magistrate David Simusamba.
She also testified that Mwamba, who is one of the directors of Mwamona, was born in October 1993, at Nchanga South Hospital in Chingola.
She was being led by defence lawyer Keith Mweemba.
The matter has been adjourned to today for continued defence and Ms Kambwili is expected to continue testifying.
In this matter, it is alleged that on October 29, 2013, with intent to defraud or deceive, Kambwili forged a “no change return” (Companies form 71) purporting to show that it was signed by his son Mwamba when in fact not.
It is also alleged that on the same date, Kambwili fraudulently uttered the same document to an officer at Patents and Companies’ Registration Agency (PACRA).
Meanwhile, Mr Simusamba yesterday refused to grant an application by Kambwili's lawyers to have the matter adjourned to a later date other than today.
The lawyers had applied that the matter be adjourned to a later date to allow Mr Kambwili travel to the Copperbelt where he is expected to appear before the High Court in a civil matter.
“I co-own Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services with my son Mwamba,” Ms Kambwili told the Lusaka Magistrate’s court.
