Yellow Journalism on Dr Chanda’s interview at a named TV station

- Marvin Chanda Mberi. Youth Rights Activist. Lusaka.

Dear editor,

I wish to air my discontent and displeasure at the way last Friday night’s interview on a named TV station was set up and conducted.

To begin with, both hosts were very biased towards Hon. Jonas Chanda and showed a high level of incompetence, unprofessionalism and lacked journalism ethics that govern their profession if at all they possess any.

I even wonder in my cosy seat why on earth did the producer of the same programme decide to provide two hosts for one guest. To attack the PF MP?

Secondly, I’m very disappointed with Hon. Cornelious Mweetwa’s conduct. Hon. Mweetwa opted to participate in the interview remotely via on phone.

That conduct was a complete affront not only to Hon. Chanda whom he was supposed to debate with but us viewers as well.

Further, it simply indicated that the Choma law maker never wanted to share the same platform with his fellow MP and opponent from PF - someone whom unfortunately is found in the same August house with, share the same seats and use the same canteen and shelter at National Assembly motels.

This is sheer hatred and utter arrogance which Hon. Mweetwa portrayed last night and his conduct maybe attributed to his eternal president HH who is ever arrogant and bitter in his daily life.

What Hon. Mweetwa did by refusing blatantly to apologise for the unacceptable and unconventional behaviour of participating in interviews in ‘tele mode’ and for not showing compaction in the insulting words he used towards the Vice president who is even fit to be his grandmother must be condemned by all well meaning peaceful Zambians. Instead of being apologetic,

Hon. Mweetwa chose to be arrogant just like his leader HH by throwing tantrums and using derogatory language which were very venomous to his opponent Hon. Chanda who fortunately never lost his inch of temper but remained calm and would only respond in his ever articulate and mature manner.
