UPND deaths 'celebration' shocks Muchinga

- By NATION REPORTER

“We wish to categorically condemn the primitive actions by UPND members who have taken to social media to celebrate the death of two Members of Parliament,” Mr Kapyanga said.

T HE UPND have been condemned for celebrating the death of two Members of Parliament stating that Bill 10 will now flop.

Some UPND members have taken to social media saying that the Bill 10 would now hit a snag following the demise of Mwansabombwe MP, Rogers Mwewa and Lukashya MP Mwenya Munkonge.

“Two MPs who supported Bill 10 have died,” one of the senior members of UPND wrote in a Facebook posting.

PF Muchinga Province youth information and publicity secretary, Francis Kapyanga said the celebrations clearly demonstrated the amount of hatred and bitterness that UPND leaders inculcate in their followers towards other people who don't subscribe to their tribal hegemony.

Mr Kapyanga said these now form the values of the UPND and its cultural norms as it was not the first time that party members were celebrating the death of fellow human beings and leaders.

“They did the same when President Levy Mwanawasa died, even when President Micheal Sata died they celebrated and slaughtered cows to nourish the celebrations. A few months ago when Africa woke up to a rude shock of the news, announcing the death of Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza, UPND cadres took to social media celebrating and hoped that, that, had happened to Zambia.

“We wish to categorically condemn the primitive actions by UPND members who have taken to social media to celebrate the death of two Members of Parliament,” he said.

Mr Kapyanga said UPND members and their leadership have always wanted Covid-19 to ravaged Zambia with deaths as they pushed a "there is no Covid-19" campaign through social media and other platforms and indeed espoused the cherished beliefs of the UPND.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with President Edgar Lungu, Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini, family, friends, colleagues and Zambians,” he said.
