ENTICE BIG INVESTORS IN GOLD MINING - MADZIMAWE
THERE is need to enhance gold exploration to ascertain quantities available so that large scale investors with financial muscle can be engaged for the country to earn much needed revenue, chief Madzimawe of the Nsenga people has said.
The traditional leader said mechanized mining would be the best way for the country to exploit required resource that would enable the country to earn much needed revenue.
He said in an interview yesterday, the investors who were financially stable were the ones who would help the country to earn more revenue.
Recently ZCCM-IH announced that it had partnered with the small scale miners and had started mining and exploiting alluvial gold at Kasenseli gold area.
ZCCM-IH said more other small scale miners had applied to partner with it and it would soon consider them so that they can mine more gold.
But in an interview yesterday, the traditional leader said it was prudent that the country started mining gold through mechanised way so that it can be able to exploit the resource that would bring enough revenue.
He said this must be the way which the country should take so that the original gold can be exploited for the betterment of the country.
“We need to do a proper survey so that we know the extent of the gold we have as a country. Yes we can have alluvial gold but we need to see if we can dig deeper so that we can be able to get those good stones which will help us get enough revenue to revive our economy.
Meanwhile chief Madzimawe appealed to Government to consider empowering cooperatives in his chiefdom so that they can also commence the gold mining.
He said people in his area were eager to engage in the sub sector but they had not been empowered with equipment which was cardinal for mining.
