MUKUNI IS A TRIBALIST
SENIOR Chief Mukuni is not the right person to counsel Paramount Chief Chitimukulu because he is a well-known UPND cadre and a tribalist, Patriot for Economic Progress (PEP) president Sean Tembo has said.
Mr Tembo said it was worth while to counsel the Paramount Chief on the feud with United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema but Senior chief Mukuni is the wrong person to give counsel.
He said yesterday in a statement, Senior Chief Mukuni was a staunch UPND cadre and a tribalist and he cannot be the right person to offer counseling.
“I agree Paramount Chief Chitimukulu needs counsel regarding his ongoing feud with HH, but I don’t agree that Senior Chief Mukuni should be the person to give such counsel, because he is a well-known UPND cadre and tribalist himself,” Mr Tembo said.
Recently Paramount chief Chitimukulu revealed that Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND had resolved to dethrone him as Chitimukulu as soon as they stepped into the corridors of power.
The traditional leader however said he was not waiting for this and would act to prevent this from happening, “I think the only option is: PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. The problem is that some people create their own storms, but get mad when it rains,” he said in a veiled warning against the opposition party.
But Senior Chief Mukuni came out with a scathing attack on Mwinelubemba for his revelations about the UPND and its leader Mr Hichilema whom he accused of plotting his dethronement.
Chief Mukuni claimed that the Bill 10 which Paramount Chief Chitimukulu appears to be a proponent of was what would dethrone him and not the UPND.
He said he was initially reluctant to comment on the matter but he was forced to do so because the circumstances in which the accusations were being made could no longer be termed as ordinary.
Senior Chief Mukuni also said that the Chitimukulu appears to overwhelmingly dependent on mere hearsay to find Mr Hichilema guilty by association, which by law of natural justice was unjust and unacceptable and draws dangerous precedent for future discourse.
And PF Member of the Central Committee and Copperbelt Province chairman, Nathan Chanda has asked Mr Hichilema to write a bill of the 20 cows and a vehicle he purportedly gave the Chitimukulu so that UPND can be refunded.
Earlier, Mr Hichilema, through his Northern Province youth chairman, Justine Mumbi, unleashed venom on Paramount Chief Chitimukulu demanding for the 20 cows and vehicle allegedly donated to him to be given back.
