Lstone Council secures property

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

THE Livingstone City Council (LCC) has begun the process of placing on title all its properties spread across the city.

Town Clerk, Gertrude Chibiliti, said that properties being titled included the Maramba stadium and many others which had not been on tittle for a long time.

She said this during a full council meeting. Nansanzu ward councillor, Sakubiwa Nyambe asked during the meeting when Maramba Stadium was going to be on title following interest by the World football governing body, FIFA to revamp the facility.

Ms Chibiliti said the process of placing properties across the city had started and that Maramba Stadium was also on the list.

“The process of putting all council property on tittle is on-going and we are working with the Ministry of Lands to ensure that is done,” Ms Chibiliti said.

Ms Chibiliti informed the full council that the rehabilitation of the playing surface at the stadium had been completed and was being maintained.

Ms Chibiliti assured that Livingstone Pirates Football Club would no longer play their games at Busiku Ground.

During an inspection of the facility by FAZ officials in June this year, the Council was advised to expedite the processing of title deeds that was a requisite for FIFA to release funds.

FIFA would only release funds for infrastructure if the stadia was in the hands of a member club or association, Livingstone Pirates in this case.
