SATURNIA HAUNTS UPND

…opposition aligned company has failed to pay retireess

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

THE UPND must say nothing about what they will do for retirees if they are elected into power because the Saturnia Regna Pension Fund partly owned by their leader, Hakainde Hichilema, has made former employees destitute, says Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma.

Saturnia Regna Pension Fund illegally externalised investments outside Zambia, amounting to K452.95 million, as at February 28, 2018 without approval from the Ministry of Finance as required by law. The statutory auditor Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) and the special independent Auditor KPMG, who carried out the audit, both confirmed the existence of offshore investments and these investments were reflected in the Saturnia Regna Pension Fund Trust books of accounts.

As a result of this development, Government ordered that the funds be recalled due to non-adherence to the provisions of the law.

And speaking to the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr. Musoma said the “Bally will fix it” slogan the UPND had devised will never apply to the plight of retirees because the party leadership had shown that has no heart for them.

He said the Saturnia mischief alone was enough to expose the ills that the UPND leadership was involved in and the reason they must never be allowed to form Government it as they had already shown their true colours even before they tasted power.

“We all know the mischief surrounding the Saturnia Regna Pension Fund which is partly owned by Mr. Hichilema. We know what some retirees under that Fund have gone through and so, it is mischievous of the UPND to continue attacking Government that it is not paying retirees and that they will take care of them when they come into power.” Mr. Musoma said.
