Police probe Mabumba’s porn video
WE are investigating the matter involving the production of a pornographic video that has gone viral, where former General Education Minister David Mabumba appeared nude, the Zambia police has said.
According to social media accounts, the video was posted by a suspected blackmailer after the minister allegedly failed to meet her excessive demands of a house, car and a farm.
The minister had reportedly offered K10, 000, which was rejected by the suspected blackmailer as “peanuts”.
Police public relations officer, Esther Katongo said the video was being investigated and once done, the public will be informed.
Ms Katongo said all people circulating the video were also being investigated.
On Wednesday, President Edgar Lungu fired Mr Mabumba from his position as General Education minister.
President Lungu terminated Mr Mabumba’s contract
following the emergence of the video which has gone viral and has caused consternation among Zambians.
In a statement issued by his press aide, President Lungu replaced Mr Mabumba by water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister, Dr Dennis Wanchinga.
Meanwhile, Council of Bishops general secretary Able Kaela has warned members of the public to use internet responsibly and avoid promoting immorality.
Bishop Kaela noted with concern that the increase in the number of bad photos and videos that go viral on social media makes sad reading because these do not add anything to the growth of the nation.
He said the public especially youths should be mindful with what they do with their electronic gadgets such as phones and internet adding the internet was meant for educative purposes.
Bishop Kaela stated that it’s unfortunate that others are also using smart phones and internet to dent other people’s images.
He said called on the Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority ZICTA to work hand in hand with the Zambia Police to curb internet abuse and cyber bulling.
