UPND lies over Bill 10 exposed

-

A UPND project of lies and propaganda against Bill 10 has been exposed in Solwezi in which it has been using social media and some local radio stations in the North-Western Province to mislead people.

The project claims that Bill 10 has specific clauses that want to bar the UPND president, Mr Hakainde Hichilema and extend the term office of the current government from five to seven years.

This came to light when Bill 10 advocates who are in the province featured on Solwezi Fm radio.

One of the callers Bichi Kupapala in Solwezi charged that he heard from the opposition that there is a clause which is aimed at barring Mr Hichilema from standing as a Presidential candidate.

“I heard that in the same Bill 10 that there is a clause that says if a person has never been a councillor or member of Parliament one cannot stand as President, I’m sure this Bill is targeting Mr Hichilema.” Mr Kupapala claimed.

Another caller, Mr Clifford Makina said he has heard that Bill 10 was proposing to be paying retirement packages for pensioners after 10 years.

“We are told that when Bill 10 passes in Parliament, pensioners will be getting their retirement packages after 10 years,” he said.

But Bill 10 advocate Prince Ndoyi said there were no such clauses that were targeting individuals and that it was unfortunate that such information was being peddled by the opposition.

“How can a national party think so low and claim that Bill 10 want to bar HH, that’s a lie, there is no such a clause in Bill 10 that is the reason we are here to explain and defuse the lies being peddled by some people,” Mr Ndoyi explained.

And another advocate Pengele Filamba charged that it people desire that retirees continue drawing salaries until such a time when their packages will be ready and that there was no such a thing that retirees will be paid after 10 years.

Others callers explained that they only heard negative things on Bill 10 but were glad to hear the positives, saying the Bill was progressive.

Bill 10 advocates are in the province to sensitive the public on its contents.
