Take interest in Govt, church urged
THE church should take keen interest in the governance of the country as partners in development, Central province minister, Sydney Mushanga has said.
Mr Mushanga, who is also Bwacha constituency Member of Parliament (MP), said Government appreciated the church's contribution in promoting the social and economic welfare of citizens.
The Minister observed that the church had been providing social services such as health and education among others.
He was speaking yesterday during the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) induction and reception service for Reverend Elijah Chisulo at Naambe Congregation, Kabwe South Consistory, Central Presbyterian.
Mr Mushanga said the church should partner with Government for the nation to achieve the much needed development and reduce poverty levels in the country.
"As Government we will continue to value the counsel of the Church's on matters of national interest because there are our partners in development," he said.
And the minister has urged the church to take advantage of the stimulus package which the Government has provided to alleviate the poverty levels in the country in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak..
He urged the newly inducted Reverend to embrace everyone for the development of the church.
And UCZ Bishop Edward Musonda urged Zambians to overlook the short comings of others especially those in leadership because all people were bound to err.
