Nevers Mumba’s ‘sermons’ not biblical, says Rev Lungu

- By KETRA KALUNGA

MMD president Nevers Mumba’s utterances do not represent the tenets of a cleric, Evangelical Youth Alliance president, Reverend Moses Lungu has said.

Rev Lungu said if the wrath of God was on this nation as purported by Dr Mumba, no one would be spared including himself unless he says he was the only perfect one.

He was reacting to Dr Mumba’s sentiments that the wrath of God was on the nation because of the witchcraft that had crippled into the corridors of power and that it was broke and broken.

But Rev Lungu said the insinuations by Dr. Mumba were ill founded because to be a Godly nation does not mean you are free from problems.

Rev. Lungu described the utterances from Dr. Mumba as unbalanced Bible teachings coming from the man of God he was.

He said it was wrong and wicked for Dr. Mumba to insinuate that the witchcraft happenings in the country started in the last nine years that the Patriotic Front (PF) has been in power.

Rev. Lungu said witchcraft has always been there not only in Zambia but throughout the world.

"Dr Nevers Mumba should give the Zambian people a clear history of where Zambia is coming from, when the MMD was in power how many people died within its administration and rank and file,

"How many people died in Chambishi from those explosives and how many people died on the roads," said Rev Lungu.

Rev. Lungu stated that God would not punish the nation for the sins of others because he desires that such people should repent and be in good standing with him. “The fact that we are alive today is because God is full of mercy and slow to anger.”

Rev.Lungu cited the ancient nations of Babylon and Israel as some of the nations where witchcraft was highly practiced but they never experienced the wrath of God.

He advised Dr. Mumba to stop the unnecessary criticism of those in authority so that he could take over but instead pray for their success as a man of God because their failures were his failures too.

"Dr. Mumba should realise that he has an obligation to pray for those in authority so that there can be peace. This is the biblical teaching,” said Rev Lungu.
