THERE was drama at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka and Mazabuka Stadium in Southern Province yesterday when Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy (KYSA) and Nakambala Leopards FC failed to show up for their week- 26 MTN/FAZ Super Division fixtures against Green Buffaloes and Zanaco FC respectively.

Buffaloes who were scheduled to host KYSA were shocked to find out that the Kabwe based Super Division outfit had not travelled for the game while Zanaco who travelled to Mazabuka were left wondering what was going on after finding the stadium locked with the home team nowhere to be seen.

However according to a letter obtained by Daily Nation Sports and signed by

Central Province Provincial Health Director Kennedy Kabuswe, KYSA was advised to go into self-quarantine after nine players were found to be Covid-19 positive.

“I wish to inform you that the entire Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy football Club should be under self-quarantine following the testing positive to covid 19 by nine football players and officials in your camp.

“The self-quarantine of your football team will only be lifted after the affected players and officials have tested negative to the second testing,” Kabuswe said in the later dated July 20.

Meanwhile, in the only game played yesterday at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira, relegation bound Mighty Mufulira Wanderers were stunned 1-0 by High flying Nkwazi FC.

Davy Kalandanya’s first half strike was all the police sponsored Nkwazi needed to fly high at Shinde Stadium which could not accommodate Mighty’s passionate fans as the games are being played behind closed doors.

Despite having no access to the stadium, some fans were seen following the game from the tall trees outside Shinde Stadium.

The win propelled Nkwazi to 12th on the 18-team Super League table with 31 points while Mighty maintained 17th position on the log with 14 points.

Today’s league action will see Perry Mutapa guiding Power Dynamos when they face his former team Forest Rangers who are in serious contention for the Super League title.

Rangers will face Power Dynamos knowing that a win will propel them to the summit of the Super League table dominated by NAPSA Stars who are on 48 points.
