‘PF must remain alert all the time’
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) structures must not get complacent but continue championing the ideals and manifesto of the party, Chairman for Mobilisation Richard Musukwa has said.
Mr Musukwa, who is also Mines and Minerals Development Minister, said party leaders from grassroot level upwards must go out to explain the manifesto and achievements of the arty so far.
He was speaking in an interview in Kitwe. Mr Musukwa said PF structures should not go to sleep, but to remain alert and ensure that they difuse any lies being peddled by the UPND and other opposition parties.
He said the party mobilisation teams were formed to supplement the structures and so structures should not go to sleep.
“As a party, we have a task of ensuring that we emerge victorious in the 2021 elections with President Edgar Lungu as Republican President. Mobilisation team and structures should work together in executing this task,” he said.
Mr Musukwa said the PF was aware that the opposition UPND wanted to use lies about the procurement of fire-tenders and propaganda about President Edgar Lungu’s eligibility as their campaign strategies. He said the UPND had no ground for their campaigns and so they would resort to misleading people on social media through lies and false allegations against the PF.
“If President Lungu is not a factor, why are they scared of facing him in the 2021? On corruption, even the same opposition leaders are corrupt and we will pursue them. We will fight corruption in public and private institutions,’’ he said
Mr Musukwa also said some companies owned by opposition leaders who are claiming to have solutions to the country’s economic challenges are failing to pay their workers.
He charged that workers in firms owned by opposition leaders have gone for many months without getting paid and wondered the sincerity of such leaders who were proclaiming to be the country’s savours.
He said such opposition leaders must first demonstrate their ability to resolve deepening problems in their companies.
