Two PF Chongwe officials banned
…for conducting premature 2021 campaigns
TWO Patriotic Front senior officials in Chongwe have been suspended for allegedly engaging in premature campaigns.
Chongwe district PF Chairman, Evans M’hambi, named the duo as vice constituency chairman, Oscar Kaleya and district vice information and publicity secretary, Evaristo Lyainga
He said that the two had misconduct themselves and as such the party was left with no option, but to punish them so that it also serves as a warning to would- be offenders.
Mr M’hambi said the two officials had been severally warned against premature campaigns for the 2021 general elections, but did not pay attention.
He said although it was a democratic right to be ambitious, he stressed that it was divisive to be campaigning in an area where the party had an incumbent office bearer.
Mr M said that such acts had the potential to derail development because the party officials would not support the incumbent in delivering development.
Mr M’hambi said that the party would not tolerate any form of indiscipline and warned any other officials to stop premature campaigns or any form of insubordination or face disciplinary action.
“We are a party of laws and as such we will not allow any kind of confusion. Those who want to be indisciplined will be disciplined,” he stressed.
The letters of suspension were written and signed by the PF Secretary General, Davis Mwila.
According to the PF, the decision to suspend the duo was based on the recommendations by the district committee in Chongwe.
Meanwhile, the suspended officials could not be reached for a comment by press time.
