40,000 masks distributed in Sinazongwe
IN an effort to supplement Government efforts in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Gift Sialubalo has distributed more than 40, 000 face masks and other materials across the district.
The face masks which are being made by a tailor-based organisation in Maamba, Blackwell Mantele, are being distributed across all ages.
Mr Sialubalo said in an interview that apart from the distribution of face masks, hand washing soap and sanitizers, he was also engaging the communities on Covid-19 preventive measures.
He said that so far, more than K40, 000 has been spent on the production of the face masks and purchasing of other Covid-19 preventive materials.
Mr Sialubalo reminded residents of Sinazongwe and other parts of the country that the Covid-19 virus was real, hence the need for them to strictly observe all health protocols in their everyday activities.
He indicated that his team would not relent in supplementing Government efforts, adding that everyone was affected.
Meanwhile, some women involved in fish business in Siansowa and Mweemba area have appealed to their lawmaker to facilitate the construction of market shelters where they could be conducting business.
The women said just like as the case was at Maamba Market, they too deserved some shelters in their respective areas.
They were speaking when they received face masks, handwashing buckets and soap being distributed by Mr Sialubalo.
Siansowa and Mweemba are active area in fish business in Sinazongwe.
