‘Stop taking politics to palaces’

- By MUYANI SHINJABALE

THERE should be no politics in chiefdoms and palaces to allow traditional leaders to make sound decisions based on Christian principles, says Senior Chief Chiwala of Masaiti District.

He said traditional leaders must remain non-partisan so that they make fair judgement and on Christian doctrine.

Chief Chiwala said national values and ethics were very important and should not be taken for a slogan but a unifying factor of the ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto to remain real.

The traditional leader was speaking when National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili called on him at his palace in Masaiti.

He indicated that family values were of great importance in the growing of any family as well as nation, hence the need for everyone to embrace one another.

The traditional leader stated that families in Zambia lived as one community which helped in growing love and unity.

He said palaces were created to grow families and stop the spread of hate, thus the need for politicians to desist from taking politics to chiefdoms.

And Rev Sumaili commended Chief chiwala and other traditional leaders in the country for looking after the interest of the people in their chiefdoms.

Rev Sumaili said that traditional leaders were a strong link between the people and the Government in fostering social economic development in the country.

She said the country would not develop without values and principles which the country needed to put first in everything they did.

The minister implored traditional leaders to work with the government of the day as both parties shared a common interest to serve and uplift the living standards of the people in their areas.
