…‘Lying’ Kalaba exposed

- By SIMON MUNTEMBA

HARRY Kalaba initiated and signed some of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zambia and China and it is therefore mischievous for him to make allegations that the latter would take over Zambia, Foreign Affairs Minister, Joe Malanji has said.

Mr Malanji said it is not only misleading but irresponsible for Mr Kalaba, who served as Foreign Affairs minister to claim that the Chinese will take over Zambia if the PF wins the 2021 general elections.

And the ruling Patriotic Front has charged that Mr Kalaba was a fully packaged pathological and habitual liar who has shamelessly continued making wild and alarming allegations for cheap political mileage.

Mr Kalaba who is leader of the Democratic Party (DP) was yesterday quoted in the Mast Newspaper alleging that the Chinese would take over Zambia should PF win in 2021.

Mr Kalaba claimed the PF would put Zambia in the hands of the Chinese for financial assistance, adding that Zambians should not risk the country’s sovereignty by voting for them next year.

But Mr Malanji said Mr Kalaba’s remarks were not only false but “unfortunate and outside this world.”

“It is unfortunate that Mr Kalaba made such unfounded allegations because he knows very well as a person who worked in this office how these contractions of loans are done,” the minister said.

Mr Malanji disclosed that as a former minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Kalaba actually initiated and signed some of the existing MoUs between Zambia and China.

He said Zambia would continue working with China because it regarded that country as the most reliable strategic partner, but it would never surrender her sovereignty.

Meanwhile, PF media director Sunday Chanda said Mr Kalaba has shamelessly continued making wild and alarming allegations for cheap political mileage.

Mr Chanda recalled that not long ago, Mr Kalaba lied that Zambia’s ambassador to the United States, Mr Lazarous Kapambwe was expelled from that country because of the deteriorated bilateral ties between the two countries.
