ANTONIO MWANZA DEMANDS K500, 000 FROM TUKUTA
PATRIOTIC Front Deputy Media Director Antonio Mwanza is demanding K500, 000 from photographer Chella Tukuta for alleged defamation.
Mr Mwanza is demanding for K500, 000.00 to mitigate harm and injury occasioned to his reputation and standing in society.
He said that the claims must be met within seven days or in default legal proceedings would be instituted. Ferd Jere and Company representing Mr Mwanza said Mr Tukuta on August 27, this year published on his Facebook that Mr Mwanza has been dating Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi.
Mr Mwanza, through the lawyer, said the post albeit being structured in form of an inquiry constituted serious innuendos and the matter legally fell within the scope of defamation of character.
He said the purpose of the post was not an innocent inquiry but was deliberately posted on social media to ensure that it was published to the whole world before verification.
“You acted maliciously as you did not even attempt to contact our client before making the publication. Our client understanding of the above is that he is engaged in immoral behaviour with a married woman and that he is engaged in an immoral relationship for financial and political gain.
“He is high ranking politician with massive influence and a role model in society. He is a Christian, a media and education activist as a consequence your innuendos have caused irreparable damage to his character and standing in the eyes of the right thinking members of society as portraying as an adulterer,” he said.
