ROAN United Football Club has hailed former striker Collins ‘King David’ Mbesuma for donating Roan United branded facemasks and T-Shirts to the club where he started his professional football ca-reer in 2003.

Speaking after receiving the facemasks, Roan United Secretary General Geoffrey Ngulube said the do-nation will help the club as it prepares to resume games under the new normal.

Ngulube said Roan United has been struggling because of a lot of challenges but was looking forward to succeed during the 2019/2020 FAZ Copperbelt Division One league which was concluded prema- turely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are grateful for the donation and as we are going in the next season, where we are just waiting for FAZ to give us a green light, these materials will do a good job as we play under the new normal.

The issues of masking-up comes handy in this period and having a supplement like this one is a boost,” Ngulube said.

Meanwhile Ngulube hailed Mbesuma for establishing a soccer academy in Luanshya which would give talented youths an opportunity to develop their careers.

Ngulube urged the 2012 AFCON winner who plays for Pretoria University in South Africa to stay fo-cused and continue being a mentor to the upcoming players.

“We are very grateful that Collins has been supportive, we saw what happened during the launch of the Collins Mbesuma soccer academy, we saw Zambia national team coach Milutin Sredojevic com-ing to participate, the vice president of FAZ was here and the minister of sports and they were all en-couraged with the initiative which will go a long way and it is testimony that we are a great nation,” Ngulube said

And Collins Mbesuma Soccer Academy project Manager Charity Muntali described the first trials held at Kafubu Stadium in Luanshya as a success after more than 200 children participated in the talent identification program.

Muntali hailed Trade Kings Zambia for sponsoring the trials which saw the academy selecting players for the under-15 and under-17 squads. Muntali reaffirmed Mbesuma’s commitment to creating opportunities for the youths in Luanshya who endure daily struggles due to lack of opportunities.
