New players impress Fathi

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

NAPSA Stars coach Mohammed Fathi says he is impressed with the performance of the new players who played in Napsa’s 1-1 draw against Indeni in the first fixture of the Big Six preseason preparatory tournament at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Fathi said both the new players such as Lawrence Chungu, Timothy Otieno and the Young

Stars from the academy were impressive despite having recorded a stalemate against Indeni.

Fathi, who is preparing for the CAF Confederations Cup sad he will not put pressure on his boys to win games in the tournament meant to improve the team’s fitness levels before the 2020/2021 soccer season can start.

“So far so good the result is not important for me what is important is for the players to express themselves and work on the mistakes before the league starts,” Fathi said.

NAPSA came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Indeni thanks to new Kenyan international Timothy Otieno who cancelled out Graven Chitalu’s 28th minute strike for the two sides to share the spoils.

Meanwhile, Indeni FC coach Dabid Chilufya hailed NAPSA Stars for organising the Big Six pre-season tournament which has given his boys an insight of what to expect when the Super Division resumes.

In another fixture played yesterday, Green Buffaloes beat Forest Rangers 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Martin Phiri and Youremember Banda while todays’ games will see Napsa Stars taking on Zanaco in a Lusaka derby as Forest Rangers take on Green Eagles.
