‘HH NOT ON POLICE WANTED LIST’

- By AARON CHIYANZO

ITis cowardice of the highest order for UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema, to go into hiding on the pretext that the police want to arrest him when they have not placed him on the wanted list, says Chinsali Member of Parliament Kalalwe Mukosa.

Mr Mukosa said Mr Hichilema was only playing cheap politics aimed at creating an impression that Government was using the police to deal with the opposition.

He said the revelation that Mr Hichilema failed to travel to Kasama last week, fearing to be laughable.

Mr Mukosa said if the police wanted to arrest Mr Hichilema they would have done so already because they knew where to find him.

He said the police only arrest people who have broken the law, stating that Mr Hichilema should only fear if he did something wrong.

Mr Mukosa said police had not placed the opposition leader on the wanted list and that there was no reason to fear.

“We have not heard any statement from the police that they want to arrest Mr Hichilema, now why has he gone into hiding? The police arrested was arrest law breakers, so if he has done something wrong then he has reason to fear, if not then it’s just cowardice or propaganda to paint Government black,” he said.

And Mr Mukosa said calls by Mr Hichilema for the police to release UPND officials and supporters who were arrested on various charges from custody were misplaced.

He said the law was being used fairly on all citizens and that UPND officials should not be treated like “sacred cows.”

Mr Mukosa said since the officials had been charged, it was only fair that they were tried in the courts of law.

He said the officials were accused of wrong doing hence needed to prove their innocence in the courts of law.
