ANGLICAN CHURCH EXPANDS
Augustine Anglican Parish in Livingstone is scouting for K400,
000 for the establishment of another parish so that it can accommodate more members.
St Augustine Parish Priest Father, Muyunda Simangolwa, appealed to the business sector to help the church raise that amount.
Fr Simangolwa said there is need for the business sector to always partner with the Church as a way of ploughing back to the community.
He said his church has grown in membership and he felt the need to construct another one for members who were coming from afar.
Fr Simangolwa said the current church building was small and failing to cater for the entire general membership.
He said the church had secured a plot in Libuyu Township where the membership had increased but there was no permanent structure.
The cleric was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Livingstone.
“God has blessed us with all things, be it our jobs, businesses or our land but we need to remember him by giving back to his work.
“You have a duty to worship God for what he has given you because this will help you to reach out to God’s heart,” he said.
Fr Simangolwa said it was important to seize every opportunity that comes in a person’s way for the work of God as it is God that makes people shine in life and when a pervasion shines it cannot be hidden.
Fr Simangolwa said the church would endeavour to partner with the business community in fulfilling its mandate and obligation.
And Limpo’s Pub and Grill proprietor, Evans Fenete, said as a believer, he understood the importance of the church’s growth.
Mr Fenete said the priest could not do it alone but needed the help and support from every member.
He said it was for this reason that he decided to partner with the church and donated 20 pockets of cement towards the construction of the new church.
“The church is an important part of the community and the business community must support the growth of the church,” he said.
