Indeni win 'Big Six'

NATIONAL Division one champions Indeni scooped the Big Six Pre-season invitation­al tournament after edging Green Buffaloes 2-0 in yesterday’s final at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The tournament had CAF Champions League envoys Forest Rangers, CAF Confederat­ions Cup representa­tives Napsa Stars and Green Eagles as well as Zanaco FC.

Indeni, who will be returning to the Super Division after six years of playing in the lower league topped Group B after drawing with Napsa 1-1 in their first game and beat Zanaco 1-0 before humiliatin­g Buffalos 2-0 in the finals.

Two first and second half goals from captain Graven Chitalu and super sub Luckson Chewe gave Indeni the victory to maintain their unbeaten run at the tournament.

Buffaloes had beaten Forest Rangers and Green Eagles 2-0 and 3-0 respective­ly before losing to Indeni in a final which Buffaloes’ coach Bilton Musonda described as an eye opener for the Super Division giants before the league is allowed to resume on October 17 as anticipate­d by FAZ.

Meanwhile Green Eagles finished the competitio­n on third position after thumping Napsa Stars 2-0 in the third and fourth fixture at National Heroes Stadium.

A brace from Anos Tembo who scored two goals in four minutes was enough to hand Eagles the tie.

Tembo broke the deadlock in the fourth minute before before completing his brace four minutes later for Eagles to finish third while tournament organisers Napsa Stars finished fourth.

Ndola outfit Forest Rangers finished fifth after picking their first win at the tournament beating Chris Kaunda's Zanaco 5-2 in the fifth and sixth position match.

Striker Moses Phiri and young Albert Kandwanda scored the two goals for the Bonkers while Quadri Kola, Taonga Bwembya and

Mpho Mathekgane were on the score sheet for Rangers who finished fifth.
