‘PF aspiring candidates free to go for any seat’

- By MARTIN AKENDE in Chilubi and KETRA KALUNGA

MEMBERS of Parliament will not be protected by the party from any aspiring candidate going after their seats, President Edgar Lungu has said.

The President has forthwith directed PF Secretary General Davies Mwila to ignore complaints from MPs about aspiring candidates but to allow their work to speak for them.

President Lungu said enough of sitting MPs complaining about aspiring candidates undermining them.

"I am directing you the secretary general Mr. Davies Mwila to ignore these cry baby MPs who are complaining of being undermined by those aspiring for their seats," President Lungu said.

And President Lungu has warned non performing MPs not to reapply for adoption in the general elections next year.

He said elected leaders who have delivered on their campaign promises have nothing to worry. And President Lungu has urged voters in Chilubi mainland to vote for the ruling party candidate Rosemary Chimbini in the

Thursday Chilubi Town Council by elections

The President said voting for the ruling party candidate will ease coordination with his office.

He said this when he addressed several rallies to drum up support for the council by-election candidate Rosemary Chimbini.

At Mofu Basic School in Mofu ward the President assured the people that Mofu Basic School will be upgraded to a full fledged secondary school  before August 2021.

He also assured villagers that government will mobilise resources to ensure roads on the mainland are worked on.

At the same event the President received defectors from the opposition UPND that include Chilubi District coordinator Morgan Mwatemba.

And addressing another rally at Matipa school in Chisupa ward, Mr Lungu said the PF has continued on  late president Michael Sata's legacy of taking development to all parts of the country.

He said this is the reason government has built more schools in the area to give chance to children to get an education. The President  said people will vote for the ruling party because they are able to see the various projects the party has implemented since 2011.

Meanwhile at Chaba school in Katamba ward President Lungu urged the people in the area to ignore opposition UPND propaganda.

He said people should not be deceived that the opposition party will transform anything because they do not have any tangible solutions.

He also warned elected leaders who have not delivered not to re-apply for adoption on the party ticket in 2021 general elections.

Mr Lungu has directed Mr Mwila not to pay attention to cry baby MPs complaining about party members mobilising to contest next year's elections.

Meanwhile the president urged Ms. Chimbini to deliver on her campaign promises once elected into office.

He said urged Ms. Chimbini to embrace everyone including people who will not give her a vote. And speaking earlier PF secretary general Davis Mwila urged people to have confidence in the ruling party candidate.

Mr. Mwila said Ms. Chimbini has been applying to contest on the party ticket for a long time but did not leave the party despite having not been adopted.

He also urged people in the area to acquire national registration cards and register as voters to give the ruling party maximum support in the 2021 elections.

Meanwhile the Chilubi main land campaign manager Brian Mundibile said the people were ready to give the PF candidate a vote in the Thursday by election.

And deputy campaign manager Geoffrey Mwamba urged the people in area to vote in numbers to teach UPND a lesson.

ADOPTIONS in the Patriotic Front (PF) for parliamentary seats will be tough and will be based on merit, says secretary general, Davies Mwila.

Mr Mwila has, meanwhile, urged party structures to work with the mobilisation committees without frictions as they were both there to ensure victory for the PF in the 2021 general elections. Mr Mwila said the adoption process would be transparent and based on merit. He said Members of Parliament mayors and councillors who had performed well would be re-adopted.

“The process will be very clear and the adoptions will be based on merit. Those who have performed well will be re-adopted,” he said. Mr Mwila urged the party structures not to be uncomfortable with the mobilisation committees but work together.

“Some of the people in the structures are just scared of the mobilisation team but they should not be, the mobilisation team is there to supplement their efforts,” he said.

He also said the mobilisation committee would ran up to the 2021 general elections.

Mr Mwila also denied allegations that the PF had started campaigns before the announcement of the date for campaigns and dismissed assertions that the party had been buying UPND councillors for K30, 000.

Mr. Mwila said the councillors were resigning because there had realised that there was no future in the UPND.
