SOUTH VILLAGERS REJECT UPND MP
VILLAGERS in Muziyo and Munzuma areas in Sinazongwe District have passed a vote of no confidence in the area Member of Parliament Gift Sialubalo.
The villagers charged that since 2016, Mr Sialubalo has never visited area which stretches along the Zambezi Escapement in Nkadabbwe Ward.
As a result of the absence of the MP and Nkadabbwe Ward Councilor, the area has not seen any meaningful development even under the Constituency Development Fund
(CDF).
Headman Munzuma charged that the Sinazongwe lawmaker was a let-down to people who voted for him.
The headman said that the area had remained behind as in terms of development with challenges such as poor road network and lack of clean water taking toll.
Other challenges the area was grappling with were lack of telecommunication towers, lack of proper school and health infrastructure.
He said this during a meeting to mark independence anniversary.
"We are suffering because of lack of development. Our leaders have neglected us. Even you journalists who are here today will see for yourself. Our school (Munzuma) here started in 1995 but look at the way it is appearing, only two by one classroom block.
“There are about five past MPs and Councilors who have been in office since this school was opened but we have no proper structures," he complained.
The senior Headman disclosed that his area combining of Munzuma and Muziyo has an approximate of 3,500 villagers.
"This time around, we asking President Edgar Lungu to help us, we are also Zambians like any other. Let the President help us, these opposition leaders representing us have failed," he pleaded.
The headman, who spoke on behalf of 27 other headmen and their subjects, regretted having voted for the opposition for a very long time.
He said this had resulted in not having any tangible development because of incompetent leaders in offices.
The meeting proceeded with the independence football tournament which was organized and sponsored by Winter Muvombo, the current chairperson of the Gwembe Valley Must Developed, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
The NGO champions the plight of the people of the valley who were displaced during the construction of Kariba Dam years ago.
