Pray for peace, PF tells Church

- By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has made a passionate appeal to the church to pray for the peace of the nation as the country draws closer to the general elections.

Mr Mwila noted that the political temperature of the nation would start rising as the 2021 general elections draw closer.

The Secretary General said the party and Government would continue seeking counsel and guidance from the church.

Mr Mwila was speaking when he graced a fundraising service at St. Michael and Noah Peter's Catholic Church, Chamboli Parish in Kitwe yesterday.

"We ask you to continue with your spiritual role of praying for the leaders and the nation at large. As PF, we put God at the centre of everything we do as the party and government at large," he said.

Mr Mwila said the PF had reaffirmed Zambia as a Christian nation, stating that it was the reason President Edgar Lungu set a day of prayer and fasting, repentance and reconciliation.

The Secretary General further urged citizens to genuinely give with sacrifice towards the work of God.

And Parish Priest Father Ferdinand Banda thanked the Secretary General and the party for the gesture.

In his homily, Fr Banda encouraged citizens to love one another unconditionally, stating that it was what was expected of them.

He said loving one another was vital as everyone was created in the image of God.

"We need to clean our hearts and work together as ambassadors of love. Let us also be better citizen and make the country we live in a better place," he said.

The parish had a target of raising a total amount of K290,000 to go towards the roofing of the church.

But the Secretary General and his entourage raised and contributed a total amount of K 374,500 to the parish for the project.

Mr Mwila was accompanied
