I WILL SERVE THE VULNERABLE, SAYS KANTANSHI MP
ORPHANS and other vulnerable children should not be demoralised as they face challenges, but should seek God's strength and concentrate on their education, Kantanshi Member of Parliament (MP), Anthony Mumba has advised.
He said vulnerable children should remain focused on their studies while seeking God's strength in order to overcome their everyday challenges.
Mr Mumba was speaking at the weekend when he gave out assorted items including mealie meal, salt, toothpaste, books, washing powder, bathing soaps to Debbie Joy, Murundu and Mufulira community schools and orphanages.
The MP said he decided to donate assorted items to the four orphanages in his constituency as a way of celebrating Zambia’s 56th independence anniversary and showing that he and President Edgar Lungu cared about them.
"On behalf of President Edgar Lungu and indeed on my own behalf as area
MP, I must tell you that I care about you and I thought I should celebrate the 56th independence anniversary by making a small donation to you.
"As I give out this small donation, I wish to encourage you to remain focused on education and always seek God's strength in whatever you do. First seek God's strength. Don't worry about the challenges you are facing, just look up to God," Mr Mumba said.
And speaking earlier, Debbie Joy head teacher, Henry Kasungulo, said he was grateful that the area MP had decided to donate assorted items to the orphanages which were also running as community schools.
Reverend Kasungulo said the gesture was a demonstration that the MP has a heart to serve the vulnerable in communities.
He assured Mr Mumba that the donated items would be put to good use by the school management .
"Speaking on behalf of the school which also keeps vulnerable and orphaned children, we are grateful to our area Member of Parliament for this donation.
This is a good gesture which will go a long way.
"A good leader will always share with his people, but a bad leader will always be selfish and greedy with nothing to share with his people regardless of how much he may have,” Rev Kasungulo said
