Over 20km Misoro-Mukonda Road upgraded
PETAUKE businessman, Elias Daka popularly known as Eriboma has started working on the deplorable Misoro-Mukonda Road in Chief Nyamphande, Msanzala constituency.
Mr Daka, who is also Eastern Province PF mobilisation committee member, has offered to work on the 20 kilometre stretch to link Misoro and Mukanda villages using his own resources.
In an interview, Mr Daka said he flagged off the grading of the road which was last worked on during the UNIP era.
“Yes we took our grader, excavator and a waterbowser at the site to ensure Misoro- Mukonda Road in Chief Nyamphande is worked on before the rainy season. And works have started,” Mr Daka said.
He said he was forced to work on the road as a way of supplement Government efforts in delivering development to all parts of the country.
“Our President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu doesn’t want anyone to be left behind in the country when it comes to development. And as part of PF which is the government of the people, we will make sure everyone isn't left behind when it comes to development,” he said.
Mr Daka said being a farming area, Nyamphade Chiefdom needed good roads to ensure that farmers delivered their agriculture produce to markets in good time.
He said agriculture was the only viable economic activity in the area which needed to be given special attention.
Mr Daka also donated 20 pockets of cement towards construction of St Banabas Lutheran Church in Chief Nyamphande.
Meanwhile, Mr Daka has urged the people of Petauke and Lusangazi to turn out in numbers and register as voters.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia is set to commence the voter registration exercise ahead of the 2021 General elections on October 28, 2020.
He said there was a need for Zambians to take advantage of the exercise so that they could participate in elections.
