Opposition lose grip on Chibombo?

- By NOEL IYOMBWA

CHIBOMBOis no longer an opposition stronghold Patriotic Front Chibombo vice district chairperson Remmy Mukosa has said.

Speaking in a telephone interview Mr Mukosa said that the PF is on the ground and that people are happy with the development that President Edgar Lungu is delivering in all corners of the country hence the confidence in the party.

He said that come 2021 general elections the Patriotic Front party will turn tables around.

He noted that the PF government has embarked on numerous infrastructure and economic development making it the party of choice in next year’s general election.

Mr Mukosa said the some opposition members of parliament have failed to bring meaningful development to Chibombo district and Central province despite being in parliament.

He called on PF members in the district to remain united ahead of the 2021 elections so that the party scoops the majority seats in the province and district respectively.

And District chairlady Edah Chikusu said the district has been lagging behind because people have been voting for the opposition but that now they have realized and opened their eyes.

Mrs. Chikusu observed that the two constituencies being in a rural set up it was easy for the opposition to cheat them but now that they have realised that they do not have development, things have changed.

She disclosed that the party leadership recently launched the mobilization team which she said is so far doing well with the grassroots.

“Being the district chairlady I can confirm that people especially women have realized that the two constituencies have been lagging behind in terms of development now they are saying that enough is enough.

“We are on the ground and come 2021 PF is going to produce two members of parliament,“she said.

The district consists of two constituencies Keembe and Katuba constituencies currently held by the United Party for National Developments Princess Kasuni and Aubrey Kapalasa respectively.
