PETITION AGAINST SEX EDUCATION MOMENTUMprinciples.GATHERS

- By SANFROSSA MANYINDA THE

Church has collected 4, 000 out of 10, 000 signatures across the country to petition Government against introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in the country.

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Copperbelt chairperson Bishop Stephen Safwali said that CSE was an assault on parental and church authority on children.

Bishop Safwali said that CSE supported homosexuality, gay rights and unhealthy sexual activities to children, hence went against Christian

“Zambia still lacks comprehensive education models in ICT, scientific studies among others which are more beneficial to shaping the children and contributing to the development of the country and we are wondering why the country feels it needs comprehensive sexuality education,” he said.

Bishop Safwali observed that CSE would make parental and church authority irrelevant in the sexual lives of the school- going children whose irrelevance was stated openly in CSE teaching documents.

He called on Government to suspend the programme as it was not on Biblical and cultural values but only emphasised children developing their own values, beliefs and attitudes adopting sexual behaviour according to their own beliefs.

Meanwhile, a veteran journalist, Charles Kachikoti, challenged parents across the country to take keen interest in CSE, a programme he said would change children’s morals to suit foreign concepts.
