Long queues characterise registration centres
THEvoter registration exercise has commenced in Solwezi district characterised by long queues in many centres. A check by the Daily Nation at some registration centres showed long queues of potential voters waiting to be attended to.

Some people interviewed, however, complained that the process was slow and called for increased manpower.
John Mobela complained that the process was too slow and that people were spending many hours standing in the scorching heat "I came as early as 08:00 hours, but this is almost 11:00 hours, and I am far away from being attended to," he said.
At Kyawama Secondary School centre, the situation was the same.
Some people were seen leaving the registration centre out frustration due to delay in dishing out the voters cards.
Meanwhile, Solwezi District Commissioner (DC), Rosemary Kamalonga, encouraged residents to register in numbers to ensure they exercise their civic and democratic rights in the 2021 general elections.
Ms Kamalonga said this shortly after touring some a voter registration centres within the district.
She expressed happiness that the number of people who had visited registration centres was overwhelming.
"So far so good, the people that have visited registration centres is encouraging. I just appeal to the people to be patient with the process so that they can obtain cards," he said.
The DC assured residents that no one would be left behind in the voter registration process as everyone would be attended to.
