MALANJI INTRODUCES STIMULUS PACKAGE FOR TEACHERS
IWILL introduce a stimulus package for teachers in 13 schools in Kwacha constituency in Kitwe to enable them raise their own income through small projects and reduce dependence on Government, Member of Parliament Joe Malanji has said.
Mr Malanji said hand-outs were not sustainable and so it was important that schools and youths in the communities were innovative to sustain themselves.
Mr Malanji, who is also Foreign Affairs Minister, was speaking when he addressed teachers at Valley View Secondary School.
He said he would establish a stimulus package for all teachers in 13 schools in his constituency so that they could find ways of being self-reliant and contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.
Mr Malanji promised to give out K30, 000 to the school as a stimulus package before rolling out the initiative to the other schools in the constituency.
"As schools, you need to find ways of sustaining yourselves because Government cannot be doing anything for you. Hand-outs are not sustainable
"You can use the K30, 000 for various things which can help you improve the welfare of the school and your welfare as teachers," Mr Malanji said.
Meanwhile, Mr Malanji gave out K30, 000 to youths in his constituency, who are involved in a block-making project.
He promised to buy them two block-making machines so that they could be making quality blocks for sale and make money for themselves
He said the current blocks which the youths were producing were of poor quality because they did not have proper block-making machines
"So, as area member of parliament, I want you to organise yourselves and come up with cooperatives to produce quality blocks to be sold to individuals and companies at a very good price,” Mr Malanji said.
