Timely input delivery elates President Lungu
PRESIDENTEdgar Lungu is delighted that almost all farmers in Eastern Province have received their farming inputs.
The Head of State said therefore that Government would work even harder because farmers were appreciative of early receipt of inputs.
"The good thing is that at least they are appreciative and acknowledging which is supposed to be the spirit of working together." the President said.
Mr Lungu said that some people should learn to appreciate when Government was working hard rather than seeing negativity in everything.
"When you do the right thing they should say he has done well but it’s unlike some people who always see negatives in everything," he said.
President Lungu said his Government would always work with farmers.
"Let's keep it up it’s about encouraging each other to do the right thing," he said.
The Head of State was speak
ing at Mfuwe Airport in Mambwe district before he proceeded to visit a cashew nut farm and later met traditional leaders and the clergy yesterday.
Meanwhile, Mambwe District
Commissioner (DC) Caroline Mwanza said farmers received their inputs two weeks ago and were just waiting for the rains.
District Agriculture Coordinating Officer (DACO), Kennedy Kaputo, on the other hand thanked Government for the timely distribution of inputs.
Further, Mr Kaputo hailed NERIA'S Investments Limited for its expeditiousness in the distribution exercise.
"Our supplier who is NERIA'S Investments started positioning inputs into the district on 2nd June 2020 and started distributing inputs to the farmers on the 29th September and concluded on 4th November," he said.
NERIA’s Investments General Manager, Martin Chaikatisha, said his company had delivered 35,095 tonnes of D compound and 28,055 tonnes of Urea fertilizers in Eastern Province.
“As you can see the shed is empty, meaning the farmers collected the inputs a long time ago so you know it’s testimony that early distribution is happening it's not a hoax these are things that visible,” Mr Chaikatisha said.
He thanked President Edgar Lungu's political will in ensuring that inputs were distributed in time
