Zambia needs issue-based politics

- Dear Editor,

I AM terribly saddened by the kind of politics being played by those in opposition.

And I can only imagine the political scenario that awaits mother Zambia next year.

I have on numerous occasions listened to some leaders in this camp boasting that

2021 is theirs as if it is only them voting for themselves.

Some are engaged in nonsensical tantrums by claiming that President Edgar Lungu does not qualify as a presidential candidate. Total bunkum!

The truth is that our opposition has run out of sound political debates and have resorted to name-calling politics which will only take them to political Hades.

Zambians for now want to hear what can be done to reduce their problems affecting their daily lives.

There is no doubt in my mind that ECL has thrown a lot of scare in the opposition camp which appears to have nothing to offer the people of this great nation.

Some think running a country is like managing a company.

Insults and mere politicking will not win them votes and the

State House they want at all costs will forever remain a mirage in the desert.

People are looking to a political party such as the Patriotic Front to bring about development and raise their living standards as nothing else will do.

My appeal to all political parties, especially those in the opposition camp is for them to practice clean and issue- based politics.

It is also my prayer that Zambians should denounce political violence because it is primitive and retrogressive.

JAY BOND,

Lusaka.
