‘Cheating medical personnel will be dismissed’

- By ROGERS KALERO

I WILL recommend for the dismissal of medical personnel found to be creating artificial shortage of medicines in hospitals and other health institutions, Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinator

Chanda Kabwe has said.

Mr Kabwe said in Kitwe yesterday that Government was procuring medicines for various hospitals and medical institutions, but some health personnel were deliberately hiding the medicines and creating an artificial shortage.

The move, he said, was aimed at creating an impression that Government was failing to buy medicines

Mr Kabwe said some health personnel with ill motives were creating an artificial shortage of medicines in hospitals

He was speaking in Kitwe yesterday during a social charter programme on Your Anthem Radio (YAR) FM after one caller called to complain about lack of medicines in hospitals.

He said medical personnel creating artificial shortage of medicines would have themselves to blame

“The problem we have is that some health personnel working in these institutions are enemies of development with very ill motives. They are creating artificial shortage of medicines to create an impression that Government does not care for the people.

Mr Kabwe also said 15 kilometres of Chibuluma road would be rehabilitated and to ensure smooth transportation of goods on the road which was now in bad state.

He was responding to concerns raised by a caller identified as Diana about the bad state of Central Street which joins Chibuluma road on Kalulushi junction.

“I hear your concerns about the state of the road and I can tell you that 15 kilometres of the road will be rehabilitated,” he said.
