PLANNED CHAOS CONTEMPTUOUS TO THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS
THErevelation by President Edgar Lungu while attending a church service in Kawambwa that he has information about one of the opposition parties planning to make the nation ungovernable is a serious concern in as much as it is shameful to democracy.
The plan to dispute the electoral outcome even if the Zambians overwhelmingly vote for the Patriotic Front and its Presidential candidate, Edgar Lungu.
This statement by the President has coincided with the statement by Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja as he was gracing the annual ball for the Kamfinsa paramilitary unit. The police chief expressed confidence on his constitution's preparedness to deliver peaceful elections.
President revelation should be a wakeup call for the national security wings and citizens alike to take precautionary and prevention measures against the anarchists planning to cast the peace and good order asunder for the sake of installing a losing candidate.
The 2021 Presidential elections are not a matter of life and death, they are a routine democratic process to renew the covenant Zambia made in 1991 after reverting back to multiparty politics.
The people cannot be substituted by the war minded politicians. We can so far attest the petty generalisation of Patriotic Front sympathisers as having low intelligence.
We have always bemoaned the continued intolerance by our political competitors.
Our friends just right from the inception of the NRC issuance exercise, they have been in dire search for any excuse to justify electoral malpractices. They have heaped the blame on state institutions and every person they see standing in their way.
They have been looking for every reason to discredit the 2021 electoral process.
We wish to remind the plotters of the possible source of despondency that sovereignty lies with the people of Zambia. It is the people who gave onto themselves the Constitution which constantly reminds us that the period from 2015 to 2016 did not constitute the Presidential term.
As sympathisers of President Lungu and the PF, we hold the view that currently there is no viable political alternative.
From the work we have done by touring all corners of the country, we do believe we have given the Zambian people the best message. It is therefore strange that the PF message would not be accepted by the Zambian people.
It is against this background that we remind those plotting civil strife that they intend to pursue a lonely path. The Zambian people will not be with them as much as the law will not be with them.
