Mr Jumbe said politicians should desist from making statements, suggesting that the 2021 general elections were a matter of life and death.

“We understand that people are eager to vote in next year’s election but we are disappointed that some politicians have been issuing reckless statements as no elections could be a matter of life and death,” he said.

Mr

Jumbe said in

Kitwe yesterday that it was saddening that even senior political party leaders could be making such alarming statements.

He said it was important that politicians prayed for peace and unity in the country unlike wishing for the bad things to happen.

Zambians, he said, should not to be shaken by alarming statements coming from various sections of society, but continue praying for peace before, during and after the upcoming elections.

Mr Jumbe said it was important that Zambians prayed for peace to continue in the country for the sake of development.

“It is important that we pray to God to help us maintain peace because peace is vital. We may have economic challenges, but that should not lead us to talk ill of each other and issue statements that will suggest bad things to happen,” he said.

Mr Jumbe said economic challenges the country was going through could only be solved when the country was peaceful.
