Sinazongwe musicians appeal for land

…to put up studios

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

SOME upcoming musicians in Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, have requested the local authority to secure land for them to put up a recording studio.

They said that if land was secured, they would contribute some funds as individuals to put up a structure for that purpose.

The musicians and artists said that Sinazongwe has a lot of talent which needs to be exposed to the world.

This came to light during a meeting organized by Winter Muvombo, the Gwembe Valley Must Develop Chairman.

During the meeting, Mr Muvombo said that if land was secured, there should not just be a music studio but infrastructure to accommodate other income-generating ventures.

Mr Muvombo encouraged the young men and women to engage the area Member of Parliament (MP) Gift Sialubalo and the Council Mayor Alick Muleya in their plans.

He said that it was important for the musicians and artists involved in paintings to work closely with the two leaders for them to succeed.

Mr Muvombo pledged to support the initiative adding that it would be one way of empowering the youth.

"I support the idea and I agree with you in asking the Council to secure land for youths so that you can build a modern studio where artists can be recording music from. It is expensive to go to Lusaka, Livingstone or Copperbelt to go and record just a single song.

"My only appeal is let us work together with our leaders, the MP and the Council Secretary for us to succeed. We are one people whether you come from Mapatizya, Siavonga, Gwembe or Chirundu.... we all fall under Gwembe Valley," Mr Muvombo said.
