‘PF is still popular on Copperbelt’

- By ROGERS KALERO

THE Patriotic Front (PF) will not be unsettled by cheap propaganda from the UPND purporting that President Edgar Lungu had a hostile reception on the Copperbelt, Kitwe Deputy Mayor Chando Mbao has said.

Mr Mbao, who is Riverside ward councillors, said the PF would not waste time on cheap propaganda from the UPND, but concentrate on mobilising members from the grassroots level to set the stage for victory in this year's election.

In an interview in Kitwe yesterday, he said the huge crowd which welcomed President Lungu in Kitwe on Saturday was enough reason why the ruling party should not be unsettled.

He said the UPND must find better ways of campaigning as opposed to politics of hatred, bitterness and deceit.

"President Edgar Lungu had a good three-day visit. The warm and thunderous welcome he received in Kitwe is enough reason for the PF not to worry about those social media rants from the UPND," he said.

Mr Mbao said all the people who lined up on Sunday to welcome the Republican president walked from far-flung areas on their own.

He said even UPND members themselves were shocked by the huge turn up, but decided to console themselves by posting irrelevant issues on social media.

"They campaign on social media, telling lies and misleading people, but they will not succeed in their moves. They want to paint a bad picture of the Patriotic Front. Those who are objective and mature in their judgement, will tell you that the PF is much better than UPND," he said.

He urged PF members at various levels to always refute the lies from the opposition and explain the truth about what Government was doing.
