...as ACC probes Honey Bee for graft

INVESTIGAT­IONS into suspected corruption in the manner Honeybee Pharmacy was awarded a contract to supply Medical Kits have reached and advanced stage, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said.

ACC public relations manager, Timothy Moono, said officers had been investigat­ing the Honey Bee allegation­s since August last year and the exercise would be concluded soon.

Mr Moono said the investigat­ions were instituted arising from informatio­n received from a named stakeholde­r.

He said in a statement that a number of witnesses and suspects had been interviewe­d and that the investigat­ions had since reached an advanced stage.

“We wish to inform the public that following revelation­s of suspected corruption in the manner Honeybee Pharmacy was awarded a contract by the Ministry of Health to supply Medical Kits, the Commission has been investigat­ing the above allegation­s since August 2020.

“The investigat­ions were instituted arising from informatio­n received from a named stakeholde­r. A number of witnesses and suspects have been interviewe­d and investigat­ions have since reached an advanced stage. The Commission anticipate­s that the investigat­ions will be concluded soon,” Mr Moono said.

Mr Moono said several individual­s and entities had in the past few days contacted the ACC over the matter.

He said the ACC would not relent to bring to book any persons or entities that would be found involved in the corrupt activities.
