CDF must be used prudently, says Kantanshi MP
THE Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is aimed at responding to the desires of the community and so it is important that it is distributed fairly, Kantanshi Member of Parliament Anthony Mumba, has said
Mr Mumba has meanwhile given out K50, 000 to the office of the Mufulira District Education Board (DEBS) to support the vulnerable in various schools of the constituency in Mufulira
He said he was grateful that the CDF was being released on time and Kantanshi constituency was putting the money to good use.
Mr Mumba was speaking yesterday at Kalis Mine
Mess when he met school head teachers and Parents Teachers Association (PTA) before handing over five fridges and five stoves to five secondary schools worth K70,000 to be used for home economics purposes.
The money is from the CDF. From his personal resources, Mr Mumba donated sanitisers, chlorine and other chemicals to fumigate schools and promote hygiene and cleanliness in view of the rising cases of Covid-19
He said the idea to donate assorted items was to promote hygiene and reduce the spread of covid-19 as schools open on
Monday next week.
“This occasion is to prepare ourselves and ensure that we put things in order as we prepare for the opening of the schools on Monday. Today we are handing over five stoves and five fridges to five secondary schools in Kantanshi constituency to be used for home economics," Mr Mumba said.
Apart from the stoves and fridges for the five schools, Mr Mumba also gave out
K50, 000 to the office of the Mufulira DEBS to help support vulnerable children in various schools in the constituency
He explained that the K50,000 was like a seed he had planted and the office of the DEBS should multiply it and use it for various projects in schools. "This money can be multiplied through various projects. Some schools are running various projects like chicken rearing and others. These projects can be used to raise funds and support vulnerable children," said Mr Mumba.
